Rider Bus Services - Information >

ESCC’s Transport and Environment Department plays a key role in planning, developing and promoting bus and other passenger transport services throughout the county.   Services which are needed, but do not pay for themselves are planned and funded by the County Council.
Local RIDER services are run by commecial bus companies under contract to the C.C.   They often provide the only public transport in many areas of the county.   Most rural services exist only because of the support provided by the C.C., supplemented by funding from the Government’s Rural Bus Subsidy Grant.
These services often supplement the commercially operated routes run by the bus companies, but often provide a service which would not otherwise operate, such as rural journeys or those at evenings or weekends.
Return tickets issued on commercially operated services are valid for use on parallel Local RIDER services.
